...power, love, sound mind...

the boys and i traveled to visit my parents today. on the way there, i was listening to james dobson's radio program. i love me some james dobson. he is very current on issues and has a very balanced, biblical world view. he spoke on the upcoming election. he did not bash one candidate or the other, he just spoke facts from the bible. he explained major biblical issues. he made it clear there are pros and cons to the democrats and republicans, however, the real issues are the biblical ones. all this war and economic stuff has always been and will always be, but our country's morals and values ride on who we vote for. they always have. each election is more critical than the last. i am a "history buff" so i have always been interested in all the political stuff. i am more interested now because it is affecting me and will affect my boys. i must admit, i have been living in fear the last few weeks thinking about all this. i keep telling myself God is in control and he knows all things. i have been quoting the all familiar verse, II Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." We cannot live in fear. God commands us to live in power, love, and a sound mind (which he gives us freely if we will only ask). i do not believe or agree with all that either candidate stands for, however, i know my bible, and i will vote for the one that is as close to the bible as it gets. when it comes to abortion, marriage, free speech, etc...that has nothing to do with color or experience and everything to do with God's word. may we all seek wisdom from the Lord and stand up and vote this coming tuesday.

I whole heartedly agree with you! It scares me to think how things may or may not go in the coming week, but we have to vote. It's not only our right and duty, but if we don't, then we don't have any reason to complain about the outcome. ;) We definitely need to be in prayer over our country and the election!
