God's call

God has called Joey and I to plant a brand new church out of Central Baptist Church. This call was not an easy one. However, our desire has been to always obey God. As Joey began hearing God's voice, he also began questioning God. We both did. It is impossible to question God when He speaks so clearly through His word. God spoke through Isaiah 42 and 43. Our flesh did not want to leave our home, our family, our friends, etc... in Dunn. Was Jesus enough in our life? Joey said yes to God, but asked Him for more confirmation. He revealed confiration through the scripture in Isaish, the name (Restoration Church), the location (southeast Greensboro), and a vision/burden for those people.

It is impossible to blog all the details. I encourage you all to get a copy of the service at Central Baptist Church Sunday evening, Sept. 4. Joey and I share our whole heart on this matter.

Here is a taste of my heart:

Each day Joey shared his heart with me, I went straight to God and began crying out. "Lord, what are you doing?" Little did I know, He has begun to prepare me months and weeks before in His word and through a book (Sun Stand Still by Steven Furtick). After reading this book, I began begging God to give me audacious faith. Huge things to happen where only people had to glorify God. This is also when I finally got on board with my pastor and began praying for revival. God began giving Joey specific instructions. Our desire has always been to obey God.

However, I said, "Lord, What in the world.....You want us to do what?" He answered me through scripture and showed me you are not the only one to ask this question. "God had huge plans for Mary, the mother of Jesus. An angel came to her before she was pregnant. What if Mary had acted on her fears.....maybe told God to choose another girl? Without her obedience and strong faith, God might have found a more willing mother for the Savior of the world. We can refuse to do whatever God puts before us. He does not need us to fulfull His mission. It is in obeying and trusting God, we clarify His will and experience what is best for us. God's tasks often involve big risks. Those who live in the Father's will, through trust and obedience, experience the life God intended for them. (Why would I want to stop experiencing that life now?) Notice people in the Bible don't agonize over God's will. Some, like Abraham, had a call, but lacked details. I see them just doing their best to live one day at a time as God took them to a new level of service for Him. Moses and David were tending sheep when God called; Gideon was threashing wheat; Elisha was plowing a field; Peter, James, John, and Andrew were fishing; Matthew and Levi were business men when Jesus said, "Follow me". Like us, some may have tried to change the assignment, but God required obedience."

Obedience has meant disrupting our normal lives/comfort zone. All we desire is for our Savior to be glorified in Dunn and in the new Restoration Church. It is all and only for the GOSPEL!

We have overwhelming support from our pastor, our team, and our church family. This has not been easy for any of us to adjust to, but we know it is the will of God. His will is always perfect and beautiful! We will finish this year at CBC, then begin Restoration Church January 2012. We covet your prayers as we begin to train and add to our core team! Keep in contact as I will post lots of specifics in the days to come.

We love you all and thank you for supporting our obedience to God.
