Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home Making Your Home A Haven: Every woman has a desire to make a house a home. We want a place to feel comfortable and peaceful. A place to find safety, refuge, a haven. Often times our lives become busy and we do not have a place to call "our haven". Let us begin with our homes. Making a home a haven can be simple. Start with a plan. Fail to plan and plan to fail. I like to divide the process into three steps. Step one: Begin with simple things as burning your favorite scented candle, use only lamps for lighting, and add soft music. Creating the tone helps us relax spiritually. Step two: Clear all surfaces from unnecessary things such as your sofa, kitchen table, kitchen counters, etc. Creating a visually neat appearance helps us relax mentally. If you are a detailed person, like myself, you may want to progress to step three. Step three: Take time to create a place for everything. When you use something, return it to it's place of belonging. When things have a place, there is no need to "pick up" before we clean. Using our time wisely helps us relax physically. As you read this article, you may feel overwhelmed. You do not know where to start in making your home a haven. Once again, start simple. Make a goal to do one room a week. After a month, you have four rooms complete and haven-like! Every person needs a haven. After creating your haven, share the gift with family and friends. You now have a place to share wonderful, relaxed memories....your home, your haven! Stay tuned for more tips on your home, time management, and other areas to help live simple.
